The devils

While looking back through the high and low points of Ken Russell's madly exciting cinematic entourages, I must admit that this one hits the spot more than once. Derek Jarman's spectacular sets strike the eye while ominous bone-breaking sound effects turn the stomach. Religion and torment go appetizingly together is this film where Huxley's book and Whiting's play are joined together for Kenneth's playtime.
