'Night mother
Excruciating in its simplicity and complexity. One watches in
amazement how Anne Bancroft and Sissi Spacek, as mother and
daughter, pass a very important evening in this suburban home,
taking us through their lives, and involving us thoroughly in
this moving tale. Marsha Norman has written nothing short of a
classic. Let's be grateful that someone was wise enough to put
it on the screen as well as the stage. To reveal anything about
the plot would be a pity. Let me just say that it should not be
missed.
